Senior Controls Engineer - Calgary Branch

We are looking to hire a skilled, motivated and enthusiastic individual to fill the position of Senior Controls Engineer /Technologist in our Calgary office as a result of the consistent growth of our Engineering Services Division.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Core technical resource on both project and support related automation tasks involving DCS, PLCs and HMIs, including both hardware and software aspects from conception through execution and commissioning
  • Development of physical and functional control system requirements based on customer discussion and data such as P&ID’s and standard specifications. Writes functional documents and communicates technical details effectively
  • Contributes to project management activities like scheduling and estimating; delegates certain tasks to others effectively and when working in a team environment

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Controls Engineer or Technologist with 10+ years of O&G experience
  • Strong DCS and PLC programming skills including both program design, troubleshooting and on-site commissioning experience
  • Strong HMI development skills including user interface design and database development
  • Senior level experience with small to medium projects and able to lead a small controls engineering team
  • Must have vendor package integration experience
  • Engineering  project  skills  including  estimating, basic  scheduling, procurement  and  RFQ  input
  • Exceptional communication and teamwork skills, combined with written and oral English communication skills required.

Senior Instrumentation Engineer Technologist - Calgary Branch

We are looking to hire a skilled, motivated and enthusiastic individual to fill the position of Senior Instrumentation Engineer /Technologist in our Calgary office as a result of the consistent growth of our Engineering Services Division.

 

Key Tasks and Duties:

  • Performs complex engineering tasks and important engineering work efficiently and accurately as related to instrumentation
  • Review and provide input to P&ID’s and PFD’s; prepare instrument data sheets, and control system narratives and architectures
  • Develops vendor documents including specifications, and performs technical bid analyses
  • Reviews contract drawings, specifications and other procurement materials prepared by others; and provides comments on the results of these reviews
  • Serves as primary interface with the design consultants and contractors in performing design reviews or addressing construction-related issues related to the instrumentation
  • Understands all related codes and their application to the project; and overseas/manages the interface with local agencies to coordinate design standards usage and approvals

Skills and Qualifications:

  •  Professional Instrumentation Engineer or Technologist
  • 10+ years of professional experience in an EPC or multi - disciplinary engineering environment
  • Eligibility for Registration or Membership in APEGGA or ASET  preferred
  • Proven ability to perform in a key technical role, good written and oral communications skills, and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are also required
  • Familiar with O&G FEED and Detailed Design project activities such as database management, field instrumentation, control systems and installation design activities. Knowledge of INTOOLS or AVEVA is a plus
  • Experience with Process Hazard Analysis (Hazop) and basic knowledge of typical oil and gas processes is essential
  • Exceptional communication and teamwork skills, combined with written and oral English communication skills required

Intermediate Electrical Design Draftsman - Calgary Branch

Our Engineering Projects division is currently looking for a skilled, motivated and enthusiastic individual to fill the position of Intermediate Electrical Design Draftsman within our Calgary office.  The successful applicant will take a lead role on our projects, designing the E&C based on P&ID’s and plot plans and will be responsible for seeing projects through to completion.

Responsibilities

An Intermediate Design-Draftsman is responsible for working with the project engineer on the electrical, control and instrumentation design of Oil and Gas facilities.  This position requires 3-7 years of relevant experience in the domestic oil and gas or pipeline industry.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Sizing cables and circuit breakers
  • Single Line Diagrams
  • Designing control panel layouts and schematics
  • Designing building layouts
  • Understanding of hazardous area classifications.
  • Producing drawing using AutoCAD 2011

The qualifications required for this position include:

Given our consistent growth, our Engineering Projects Division is currently looking for skilled, motivated and enthusiastic employee or contractor to fill the positions of Senior and Lead Electrical Design Draftsmen within our Calgary office.

 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include generating electrical and control drawings using piping and instrumentation source documentation. Included are:

  • The development of cabling and conduit schedules
  • Single and three line drawings
  • Junction box layout drawings
  • Control and contact panel design and layout drawings
  • PLC input - output schematics
  • Generating area classification and electrical layout drawings

 Skills and Qualifications

  • 8 years minimum of extensive AutoCAD experience with strong Electrical background
  • Graduate of Electrical Technologist program
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of and experience in using the CEC
  • Experience with AutoCAD 2011 (3D experience is an asset)

We are looking to hire a skilled, motivated and enthusiastic individual to fill the position of Lead E, I & C Engineer /Technologist – Large Projects (greater than $200 million CAPEX) in our Calgary office as a result of the consistent growth of our Engineering Services Division. 

 

Key Tasks and Duties:

The Lead E, I & C Engineer/Technologist – Large Projects will be responsible for providing direct supervision and mentoring of design staff, including team engineers and designers. In this position, the incumbent will also be responsible for providing the team leadership, client contact, as well as invoicing, profitability and client satisfaction. Additional essential job functions include:

  • Establishing the E, I & C portion of the DBM, schedule and cost estimate for large projects
  • Implementing and utilizing project management methodologies, tools and procedures, while ensuring overall delivery
  • Ensuring quality of deliverables and accountability for the overall performance of multi-disciplinary teams – electrical, instrumentation and control - focused at executing large O&G FEED and Detailed Design projects
  • Working with the client – EPCs and End Users - to ensure the objective, scope and deliverables for the project are clearly defined
  • Maintaining effective and continuous communication with entire project team
  • Analyzing technical specifications, tender documents and proposals to develop detailed work scopes and drawings (Engineering Drawing Package). The packages will involve the details required for construction (Construction Work Package)
  • Submitting reports regarding operations, Quality & HSE and cost as required

Skills and Qualifications:

Professional Engineer or Technologist with Registration or Membership in APEGGA or ASET

  • 15+ years of professional experience in oil & gas FEED, Detailed Design and project management activities with a focus on electrical, instrumentation and control for Greenfield projects valued in excess of $200 million
  • Customer focused; promotes good client relations on a social and professional level
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
  • Proven experience in managing engineering teams of 20 or more people through FEED, detailed design, start up and commissioning
  • Accreditation as a Project Management Professional (PMP) is desirable

Reporting to the Team Lead of our TerminalBOSSTM  Group the TerminalBOSSTM Support Technologist will have the following key tasks and duties:

 

  • Provide client interface for product support requests
  • Evaluate and perform system level diagnostics
  • Install/Configure computer components, including third party industrial and automation software, TerminalBOSS<sup>TM</sup> software and SQL database
  • Install, maintain and recover windows operating system
  • Set up project test equipment
  • Run tests on systems prior to shipping
  • Research and evaluate new hardware platforms
  • Create and maintain documentation for support requests, product installation tracking and product manuals
  • Configuring and install web application using Microsoft Internet Information Services and ASP.NET
  • Site travel (Approximately 10-12 weeks per year) which involves installing PC equipment, testing communication links as well as system operation and performance
