LPG Terminal- Truck and Railcar Loading Systems- SCADA Integration- TerminalBOSS Management System.

One of our clients recently upgraded an existing propane cavern storage facility to provide loading and offloading capabilities for truck and rail. Kilowatts has provided electrical and automation services to many of this client’s facilities throughout the US and Canada.  Our client decided to standardize on our control system architecture and TerminalBOSS™ terminal management software in order to decrease implementation cost and provide consistency from engineering through marketing and operations. 

This particular facility was originally equipped with a weigh scale and simplistic truck loading procedure, which did not allow for the throughput they now require.  A complete truck loading measurement and control skid was implemented to decrease truckload time and implement additive injection.  The site is also now remotely connected and controlled from the SCADA system.  The scale is still utilized, as the custody transfer point while the transactions are more easily created and tracked through the TerminalBOSS™ system.  A new PLC control system was also implemented to improve operator efficiency and safety.
