Blend Plant Automation
Kilowatts recently completed a blend plant automation project for a chemical company. Our client was looking to reconfigure a blending and storage facility, while introducing some new equipment and automation techniques. Our challenge was to design, install and commission a batch control system that would integrate with the existing operation while providing improved quality, efficiency and safety. The entire project was implemented while the plant continued operations.
Key attributes included the addition of new storage tanks and transfer pumps, new heat exchangers, new automated valve tree for product switching, and a completely new PLC control system with customized operator control screens. Our client reports significant improvements in work force utilization, product quality, waste reduction, safe product handling, batch creation time, and overall employee satisfaction.
